6-Time NFL Pro Bowler Will Play for an New Team Next Season

Veteran pass rusher Calais Campbell has been released by the Baltimore Ravens, which came as a surprise to many in the NFL community. While there is a possibility of his return to the Ravens at a discounted rate, it seems more likely that Campbell will be moving on to a new team for the upcoming season and beyond.

The move to release Campbell will give the Ravens an extra $7 million in cap space to work with in the coming weeks. While Campbell is no spring chicken at 36 years old, he is still capable of playing at a high level. In the 2022 season, he recorded 36 total tackles (18 solo), 5.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and two passes defended.

Campbell spent three seasons with the Ravens after spending the previous three seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars. With free agency in full swing, it remains to be seen how many teams will express interest in his services.

The Ravens’ decision to release Campbell reflects their ongoing effort to make strategic moves to improve their roster, including acquiring additional talent in the draft and free agency. While it’s sad to see a talented player like Campbell go, it will be interesting to see where he lands next and how he will continue to impact the league.
