In the latest episode 7, of the highly anticipated series “Ahsoka,”  fans were treated to a pivotal revelation that shed light on the show’s position in the post-Return of the Jedi Star Wars timeline, creating intriguing connections to both “The Mandalorian” and “The Book of Boba Fett.”

While some viewers have labeled this week’s episode as mere “filler,” it’s important to note that “Dreams and Madness” played a vital role in providing context, especially for those less acquainted with Grand Admiral Thrawn and his significance in the Expanded Universe and “Star Wars Rebels.”

After Grand Admiral Thrawn cleverly tricked Ahsoka Tano, Ezra Bridger, and Sabine Wren, he subsequently unveiled his bold plan. It involves departing from Peridea and returning to the broader galaxy, presumably to assert his dominance as the “Heir to the Empire.”

The exact nature of his scheme remains shrouded in mystery, but with the enigmatic and malevolent Great Mothers executing his commands, it’s evident that it bodes ill for the galaxy.

One of the longstanding mysteries surrounding “Ahsoka” has been its placement within the expansive Star Wars timeline. Although it’s undeniably set in the post-Return of the Jedi era, pinning down its exact alignment with other series like “The Mandalorian” and “The Book of Boba Fett” has proven challenging.

Fans of “The Mandalorian” recall that its third season established that Grand Admiral Thrawn had not yet re-emerged, despite his initial mention in season 2, when Ahsoka embarked on her mission to locate the Imperial menace during her showdown with Morgan Elsbeth.

In an important opening scene of Ahsoka episode 7, Captain Carson Teva steps in to assist Hera Syndulla as she faces questioning by the New Republic regarding her actions on Seatos.

This scene effectively confirms that the events of “Ahsoka” unfold several weeks, if not months, following Moff Gideon’s defeat. News of this significant development has swiftly spread throughout the galaxy, along with the ominous threat posed by the remnants of the Imperial forces.

Lucasfilm has provided fans with an intriguing glimpse with a selection of stills from the episode, “Dreams and Madness.”

As the series unfolds and Grand Admiral Thrawn’s plans become clearer, it’s clear that “Ahsoka” is set to leave an indelible mark on the Star Wars saga creating its place as a must-watch for fans old and new alike.  If you haven’t had the chance to watch episode 7 yet, it’s available on Disney+
