Over the weekend, Ariana Grande honored the 10-year anniversary of her and ex-boyfriend Mac Miller’s song “The Way” by paying tribute to him. The singer re-posted the music video from a fan account on her Instagram Story, presumably with Miller in mind, and wrote “I love you” in tiny white font.
The two artists have worked together before “The Way” appeared on Grande’s 2013 album Yours Truly and on multiple more occasions after then. Their romance lasted from 2016 until Miller’s September 2018 death after an overdose.
With songs and social media posts about her ex, Grande has not been shy about expressing her grief in public. Miller is her closest friend, and she has described him as having a sweet, compassionate nature that has been afflicted by demons he does not deserve. Grande has been grieving his death, and her most recent homage to him demonstrates how dearly she will miss him.
