Actress Daisy Ridley is set to make a comeback as Rey directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, set in the New Jedi Order era, 15 years after the Skywalker Saga’s conclusion.  The revelation got here all through a breakfast meeting with Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy, catching Ridley off guard.

Initially, the expectation was that Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s movie, starring Ridley as Rey, would be the first Star Wars film post-Skywalker Saga. However, recent announcements placed The Mandalorian & Grogu ahead in the release schedule.

Ridley, who hadn’t read a screenplay at the time of the announcement, expressed her initial surprise at the impromptu news during an interview with AlloCiné. She shared, “That was actually quite last minute. I was making my own film last year, and Kathy Kennedy said she wanted to have breakfast. And I thought we were just having breakfast. So there I was, having my breakfast, and she goes ‘Oh, by the way, we might do another one.’ And I’m like ‘Okay…'”

After considering the offer and learning about the story, Ridley was convinced to reprise her role as Rey. She described the upcoming Star Wars film as a “fantastic exploration of the Star Wars world” and an exciting departure from the hooked-up story

Daisy Ridley: “I think it’s a really fantastic exploration of the Star Wars world. It’s a really cool way of taking the story on in a bit of a different direction.”

The fill will discover Rey’s quest to rebuild the Jedi Order and will address unanswered questions from the sequel trilogy, taking the Star Wars story in a new route.

Despite Ridley’s confirmation of her return and knowledge of one film’s storyline, many details about the project remain undisclosed. Lucasfilm hints at the possibility of more stories set in this Star Wars era.

As fans anticipate Rey’s next adventure, the untitled Star Wars film promises to expand the lore and carve a unique path in the galaxy far, far away.
