We will witness another spin-off featuring the story of Colleen Wing and Misty Knight.
The DefendersVerse, a partnership with Netflix, allowed Marvel Television to build a unique world for Marvel’s street-level superhero characters like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Punisher. Still, this Defenders universe franchise faced an unexpected cancellation by Netflix.
Before Marvel Studios acquired Marvel TV, there were discussions about a show called Daughters of the Dragon. Unfortunately, this spin-off did not receive approval, and eventually, the entire Marvel TV universe was eventually canceled.
We did not even get to see the story of Colleen Wing played by Jessica Henwick, and Misty Knight played by Simone Messick.
In a recent interview, Director Marc Jobst confirmed that there were indeed plans for Colleen and Misty to have their own show. This idea was hinted at in the second season of Iron Fist, where they built their relationship.
Here is what the director stated:
“Yes, absolutely. There was some relationship building in the episode, starting with the boxing ring training. That culminated in Colleen deliberately leading Misty into a fight to get over her self-pity, knowing that Misty would rise to it, which she did. The two of them going off into the smoke and bokeh as a definite twosome was a nod to the potential of Daughters of the Dragon.”
Right now, only a few characters from the Netflix series have been officially confirmed to be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The beloved cast are Charlie Cox as Daredevil, Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin, and Jon Bernthal as The Punisher. Moreover, there have been indications that Krysten Ritter will reprise her role as Jessica Jones.
Daredevil: Born Again is expected in late 2024 or possibly 2025 due to a production pause caused by the SAG-AFTRA strike.
You can now watch the first three seasons of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and The Defenders on Disney+.
