Disney Officially Confirms Delay in Release of Andor Season 2

In a disappointing flip of events for Star Wars lovers, Disney has officially confirmed the delay in the launch of Season 2 of the fairly acclaimed Andor series. The first season of Andor won vast acclaim and became exceptionally celebrated, making Season 2 a surprisingly expected continuation.

Showrunner Tony Gilroy, who had initially sparked excitement about Andor Season 2 release in Fall 2024 faced questions as it was notably absent from Disney’s recent press release outlining upcoming projects for 2024.

The absence of Season 2 of Andor from the list has now officially confirmed the delay leaving fans without a specific launch window. While this information is disheartening, it’s vital to spotlight that other Star Wars collections have been blanketed in the 2024 lineup without specific release dates.

Tony Gilroy had initially hinted at Season 2 of Andor in the Fall of 2024. Despite the put-off, fans might also still assume the release as early as Spring 2025. Drawing parallels with the release pattern of various Star Wars content on Disney, a March 2025 premiere is a possibility. This is especially considering the success of launching Season 3 of The Mandalorian in March.

With a busy schedule for Star Wars content in 2024, featuring various Disney collections, it appears that Disney and Lucasfilm may strategically time the release of Andor Season 2 to prevent oversaturation in the Star Wars universe. In such a scenario, Season 2 may also potentially premiere in late May or early June 2025, adopting a similar release strategy as observed with Obi-Wan Kenobi.

While the exact release date remains uncertain, fans can expect season 2 of Andor in 2025. Meanwhile, fans can revisit Season 1 of Andor which is available for streaming on Disney.
