The Fall of the House of Usher, a Netflix original series that has been captivating viewers for over a week, has finally revealed its viewership figures, leaving fans eagerly anticipating news of a potential second season.

Based on data from Samba TV, the premiere episode of The Fall of the House of Usher garnered 791,000 U.S. households during its first four days on Netflix.

To provide a benchmark for these numbers let’s compare this viewership data to other recent Netflix original’s four-day premieres as reported by Samba TV:

“One Piece” – 739,000 viewers

“Who Is Erin Carter?” – 1.2 million viewers

“The Diplomat” – 1.3 million viewers

“You” (Season 4) – 1.7 million viewers

“Outer Banks” (Season 3) – 1.6 million viewers

Upon analyzing the numbers, it’s evident that The Fall of the House of Usher did not set any groundbreaking records for the streaming giant. However, it did outperform 2021’s “Midnight Mass,” another creation by Mike Flanagan and his third original series for Netflix.

While it may not have reached the levels of highly-anticipated series such as “One Piece,” “The Fall of the House of Usher” can still be considered a success.  It’s important to note that the Samba TV data only pertains to the premiere episode’s viewership in its first four days, leaving questions about the series’ performance in the subsequent days and weeks.

The Fall of the House of Usher marks the fifth original TV production in Mike Flanagan’s portfolio to debut on Netflix. It also marks the end of an era, as Flanagan embarks on a new journey with Amazon Prime Video under a fresh deal.

The shift to Amazon for Mike Flanagan’s future projects casts a shadow over the prospects of The Fall of the House of Usher’s  Season 2. Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear promising.

Given Flanagan’s departure from Netflix and the initial classification of the series as a “limited series,” the chances of a second season seem quite slim.

Flanagan himself has affirmed that his Amazon adaptation of “The Dark Tower” takes priority after the recent conclusion of the writers’ strike, further reducing the likelihood of more stories from the Usher universe.

However, Netflix has found success within the “Flanaverse,” and it’s possible that the streaming platform to discover another creator who can continue the tradition of crafting gripping original horror series.

If you haven’t watched The Fall of the House of Usher, you can stream it exclusively on Netflix.
