Fans of the blazing hit anime series, Fire Force, have been eagerly awaiting news of Season 3, and it seems that the flames of excitement have been reawaken.

In May 2022, Fire Force announced that Season 3 was in development. Fast forward a year to May 2023, and the show’s Japanese Twitter account confirmed the commencement of production for Season 3. However, the question on everyone’s mind is, why the delay?

Major factors contributing to the lack of updates may include the ongoing pandemic and the busy schedule of David Production, the studio behind the anime, which has been occupied with other shows like Cells At Work!! and Strike Witches: Road To Berlin.

Fire Force is based on the manga of the same name, crafted by the talented writer and artist, Atsushi Ohkubo. The series follows the intriguing tale of Shinra Kusakabe, also known as Devil’s Footprints, who possesses the unique ability to set fire to his feet at will.

Shinra joins the Special Fire Force Company 8, working alongside other flame users to combat supernatural threats known as living Infernos.

While the main cast for Fire Force Season 3 remains unknown, it’s expected that most voice actors will reprise their roles. Here’s a glimpse of the Japanese and English voice actors for the series:

  • Shinra by Gakuto Kajiwara / Derick Snow
  • Captain Obi by Kazuya Nakai / Jeremy Inman
  • Takehisa by Kenichi Suzumura / Christopher Wehkamp
  • Tamaki by Aoi Yuuki / Jad Saxton
  • Iris by Mao Ichimichi / Alexis Tipton
  • Maki by Saeko Kamijou / Sarah Roach
  • Arthur by Yuusuke Kobayashi / Eric Vale
  • Joker by Kenjirou Tsuda / Sonny Strait

The Evangelist is set to return as the series’ villain, continuing their role as antagonists in Season 3. But here’s where the plot thickens: rumors suggest that Studio Shaft might replace David Production as the show’s main studio.

While this remains unconfirmed, it could be another piece of the puzzle behind the extended wait for Season 3.

As for the burning question of when fans can expect Season 3, it’s likely to grace screens in 2024. In the meantime, fans can revisit the thrilling adventures of Season 1 and Season 2 of Fire Force on Crunchyroll.
