We were deeply saddened to learn of the demise of Craig Puki, a former linebacker with the San Francisco 49ers. He passed away at the age of 66. The team just made this devastating statement, and our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones during this time of sorrow. The 49ers saw Craig Puki’s skill and picked him in the third round of the 1980 NFL Draft. In his two full seasons with the squad, he appeared in every single game (a total of 32 total). During his stint with the 49ers, Puki made significant contributions on defense. He had two fumble recoveries and an interception. Puki’s Super Bowl victory with the 1981 San Francisco 49ers was unquestionably a career high point. Puki’s tenure in the Bay Area was certainly highlighted by the fact that he was a part of a championship-winning club. Puki joined the Rams after the 1981 49ers season, although he played only one more year in the NFL. Despite his short career in the NFL, he left an indelible mark on the sport and deserves to be remembered. The real person, the loved ones left behind, must be kept in mind during these difficult times. We pray for Craig Puki’s loved ones that they may find comfort and strength as they face this challenging time. I pray that the remembrances and legacy he leaves behind provide them comfort and strength.
