Jeffrey Wright’s American Fiction to Make Online Debut, Here are the Details

American Fiction to Make Online Debut

In a thrilling development for film fans, Jeffrey Wright‘s latest venture, American Fiction, is gearing up for a digital debut after a well-received limited theatrical release. American Fiction delves into societal expectations, literary success, and the excellent performance of Jeffrey Wright.

Based on Percival Everett’s novel Erasure, the movie follows Wright as a novelist who pens a deliberately stereotypical Black book, sparking unexpected acclaim.

Despite a modest theatrical run starting 15th December 2023, the film has already achieved a commendable global box office revenue of nearly $3 million. The transition to streaming is a result of Amazon‘s acquisition of MGM, rebranded as Amazon MGM Studios, making Prime Video the focal point of the studio’s movie business.

American Fiction echoes the distribution strategy of Air, starring Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, initially planned for streaming only before a brief theatrical detour.

Drawing comparisons to similar releases on Prime Video, the streaming debut for American Fiction is expected on 19th January 2024, 35 days after its theatrical release. This move aligns with recent successes on the platform, such as Saltburn, which gained viral popularity after streaming commenced on 22nd December 2023.

As the digital release date approaches, audiences can anticipate a thought-provoking cinematic experience.
