‘John Wick 5’ is in Early Development as per Lionsgate

Good news for those who can’t get enough of the John Wick movies! John Wick 5, revealed by Lionsgate, would reportedly feature “even more thrilling vengeance and mayhem.” John Wick: Chapter 4, directed by Chad Stahelski, was such a financial and critical success that it seemed inevitable that the series would continue to grow with new storylines. It appeared that the legendary figure played by Keanu Reeves had died, but questions remained about his ultimate destiny. But have no fear; our favorite vigilante hitman has much more in store for us.

Joe Drake, chairman of Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group, announced the exciting news that production on a fifth John Wick picture had begun during the studio’s earnings conference for the fourth quarter of 2023. He also said that he has ambitions to develop further John Wick media, such as prequel films, TV shows, and video games. Drake has spoken about expanding the brand into new mediums to satisfy fans’ insatiable need for more material.

Drake stated that next year would see the publication of the first spinoff, named Ballerina and starring Ana de Armas. In addition, there are now three more works in progress, one of which being the fifth installment of the John Wick film series. The plan is to create a vast universe where these stories may link and to provide fans a constant stream of new John Wick material to consume.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, director Chad Stahelski shared the same excitement, saying both he and star Keanu Reeves would jump at the chance to return to the world of John Wick. Now that Drake has officially announced a fifth film in the series, the future of the franchise and its devoted fan base seems bright.
