Josh Brolin Hints at Cable's Possible Return in Deadpool and Wolverine

In a recent interview, Josh Brolin famous for his portrayal of Cable in Deadpool 2 teased the potential for his character’s appearance in the upcoming film Deadpool & Wolverine.

When questioned by Collider, Brolin disclosed that he hasn’t filmed any scenes for the sequel yet. He playfully speculated about why he wasn’t brought back suggesting that perhaps Ryan Reynolds who plays Deadpool might not be fond of him.

However, Brolin left the door open for speculation by cryptically stating “Maybe” when asked about a potential cameo.

Original Choice for Cable Role

Interestingly, Brolin wasn’t the first choice for Cable. According to Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld, Brad Pitt was initially slated to portray Cable in Deadpool 2.

However, due to scheduling conflicts, the role eventually went to Brolin. Liefeld confirmed the validity of this rumor citing Pitt’s close relationship with the film’s director, David Leitch during the early stages of production.

Additionally, actor Michael Shannon was also considered for the role before Brolin landed it.

Deadpool & Wolverine Entering the MCU

Following the success of Deadpool 2, plans for a third Deadpool movie and an X-Force spinoff were in motion at 20th Century Fox. However Disney’s acquisition of the studio in 2019 led to the shelving of these projects resulting in the rights to X-Men films reverting to Marvel Studios.

Subsequently, Deadpool 3 was announced with its trailer indicating that the characters would be integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) through the Time Variance Authority introduced in Loki.

Returning Cast and New Additions

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman reprise their roles as Deadpool and Wolverine respectively from the X-Men film series.

They are joined by returning cast members such as Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Stefan Kapičić, Shioli Kutsuna, and Rob Delaney.

Additionally, newcomers to the franchise include Emma Corrin and Matthew Macfadyen.

Streaming and Release Dates

Currently, Deadpool 2 is available for streaming on Disney+ allowing fans to revisit the earlier installment of the franchise.

Meanwhile, Deadpool 3 is set to hit theaters on July 26, 2024 promising an exciting continuation of the beloved series.

Overall Brolin’s enigmatic remarks and the evolution of the Deadpool franchise hint at an intriguing future for Cable and the other characters within the MCU.
