From what we’ve heard, Leonardo DiCaprio will be back as Hugh Glass in Alejandro G. Iárritu’s The Revenant sequel. Glass had many more thrilling experiences after the events of the first film, which may make for exciting viewing (but the plot is still a mystery). After being abandoned in the forest and attacked by a grizzly bear in the first film, Leonardo DiCaprio will reprise his role as Glass in the sequel The Revenant. Glass kept on exploring the Dakotas until he was killed by members of the Arikara Tribe. Plenty of opportunities exist in Glass’s life for violent and gory scenes in the sequel. The first filming was exhausting for everyone involved, but especially for Leonardo DiCaprio, who got hypothermia. However, the film was a commercial and critical success, earning Iárritu multiple Oscars (including Best Director). The original film’s depiction of Native American culture was not always realistic, despite its best efforts. Indigenous actor Kimberly Norris-Guerrero criticized the film for its representation of the Arikara Nation as permanently dirty and coated in mud; she has since switched to screenwriting to challenge this stereotype.
