Lily James and Sebastian Stan Join the Cast
Actors Lily James and Sebastian Stan are reportedly taking on roles in the upcoming period film ‘Secrets & Wives’ produced by Focus Features. The film, directed by Carly Wray is slated to begin filming in Atlanta, Georgia, and Vancouver, British Columbia though the exact start date is yet to be disclosed.
Set in rural Washington State during the 1980s, the story revolves around Sherry a single working mother who falls for the charismatic outsider Martin Lewis. They quickly get married but their lives take a tumultuous turn when it’s revealed that Martin is a married former gangster.
Lily James’ Recent Work
Lily James has recently completed filming for ‘Relay’ featuring Sam Worthington and Riz Ahmed as well as ‘Providence’ starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Her upcoming movie ‘The Iron Claw’ with Zac Efron, and ‘The Bear’ actor Jeremy Allen White, is set to release on December 22, 2023.
James has garnered attention for her roles as Josephine Esperanto in ‘Finally Dawn’ Zoe Stevenson in ‘What’s Love Got to Do with It?’, Linda Radlett in ‘The Pursuit of Love’ and Ellie Appleton in ‘Yesterday.’
Sebastian Stan’s Recent Projects
Sebastian Stan recently wrapped up filming for ‘A Different Man’, where he stars alongside Renate Reinsve. He is also part of the cast of Marvel Studios’ ‘Thunderbolts.’ Stan’s recent credits include Vlad Tenev in ‘Dumb Money’, God in ‘Ghosted’, Max in ‘Sharper’, Steve in ‘Fresh’, Nick Fowler in ‘The 355’, and Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier in ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.’
Filming Locations and Director
While the filming dates are yet to be officially announced production is expected to commence after the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike concludes. Atlanta, often referred to as Hollywood East, is home to numerous production facilities and scenic attractions.
The city has hosted the filming of various renowned projects like ‘The Walking Dead’, ‘Stranger Things’, ‘Cobra Kai’, ‘Ozark’, and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.’ Vancouver, known as Hollywood North, serves as a significant location for productions like ‘Virgin River’, ‘Supernatural’, ‘Criminal Minds’, ‘The Last of Us’, and ‘Fear the Walking Dead.’
About the Director and Production
Director Carly Wray is not only at the helm but has also penned the screenplay. She is known for her work on AMC’s ‘Mad Men’, where she wrote several acclaimed episodes. Wray co-wrote and co-executive produced HBO’s ‘Watchmen’ and Max’s dystopian series ‘DMZ.’
Her extensive credits also include ‘Westworld’, ‘Mindhunter’, ‘The Leftovers ‘The Bastard Executioner’, and ‘Constantine.’
The film’s production is a collaboration between Berlanti/Schechter Films New Leaf Literary & Media and Truly*Adventurous in partnership with Focus Features.
