Mike Shinoda, the vocalist and multi-instrumentalist of Linkin Park, has expressed his disinterest in performing with a hologram of the band’s late vocalist, Chester Bennington, who died by suicide in 2017. In an interview with 94.5 The Buzz, Shinoda stated that the band is not interested in performing alongside a virtual version of Bennington, as he finds it “creepy.” He even declined the offer of one of the radio hosts who said she would pay “good money” to see it.

Shinoda also pointed out the difference between ABBA’s popular hologram show in London and performing with a hologram of a deceased band member. He explained that ABBA’s hologram show is different as all the band members are still alive and want to transport their fans back to the time when their songs were new. Shinoda admitted that he’s a fan of the “Mamma Mia” performers, but he’s still not sure if he would personally buy a ticket to the show.

Shinoda also discussed how a Linkin Park hologram concert would be received by fans, noting that “the problem with the internet now is that everybody thinks that everything is for everybody.” He emphasized that everyone has the right to like or dislike something, and they should go see or buy what they want. However, he stated that the band will not do a hologram show.

In a recent interview with The Howard Stern Show, Shinoda also shared his uncertainty about his own music career’s future following Bennington’s death. He described it as feeling like being part of a club he didn’t want to join.

Overall, Shinoda’s stance on hologram performances is clear – he finds it creepy and is not interested in performing with a virtual version of Chester Bennington. He emphasized that fans should have the freedom to like or dislike something and should go see or buy what they want.
