Marvel Studios’ first Disney+ series for 2024, “Echo,” now has an official release date. Initially pushed due to industry strikes that affected film and TV production, the show is set to premiere on Disney+ on January 10.

This makes it the first Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) project to hit screens in 2024. It’s important to note that this date is tentative, as Marvel Studios has yet to make an official announcement regarding the premiere date.

A Unique Release Approach

What’s intriguing about the release of “Echo” is that Disney+ will be adopting a different release strategy.

Unlike previous MCU shows that had weekly episodes or dropped multiple episodes during their premieres, “Echo” will see all of its episodes released on the same day.

This binge-watching model is a departure from the usual MCU release pattern, where episodes are spread out over several weeks. It’s a move that aligns more with streaming giant Netflix’s approach.

What to Expect from “Echo”

The show centers around Maya Lopez, portrayed by Alaqua Cox, as she grapples with her Native American heritage while navigating a life entangled with criminal aspirations.

Maya is set to inherit the daunting legacy of Wilson Fisk, also known as Kingpin, played by Vincent D’Onofrio, whose return has been highly anticipated by fans.

The description for the first episode hints at an exploration of Maya’s journey and challenges as she reconnects with her Native American roots while being drawn into the world of crime.

Marvel’s 2024 Lineup

Marvel’s upcoming 2024 lineup is experiencing some shifts. While Loki Season 2 and The Marvels are confirmed for the latter part of 2023, the schedule for 2024 remains uncertain.

Another series expected to debut in late 2023 is “What If…? Season 2.” Following “Echo,” it’s likely that the animated series “X-Men ’97” will premiere in early 2024 on Disney+.

As for the other Disney+ MCU shows, “Agatha: Darkhold Diaries” is also set for 2024, while “Daredevil: Born Again” and “Ironheart” await official release dates.

“Echo” is currently slated to kick off the MCU’s Disney+ offerings in 2024 on January 10, but fans should keep an eye out for any updates from Marvel Studios.
