This summer will witness the debut of “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One,” the sixth film in the Mission: Impossible franchise, and fans can’t wait to watch Tom Cruise reprise his role as Ethan Hunt. But Esai Morales, who plays the film’s main antagonist, is getting all the attention. Director Christopher McQuarrie described the character as “something of a ghost of the past” with ties to Hunt’s background in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, providing some fascinating clues about the character. Some of the most iconic bad guys in recent cinema history may be found in the Mission: Impossible franchise, including Philip Seymour Hoffman’s Owen Davian in “Mission: Impossible 3” and Sean Harris’ Solomon Lane in “Mission: Impossible – Fallout.” However, Morales has large shoes to fill, and many are wondering how much of a danger he will represent to Hunt in the next picture. Despite all the buzz around Morales, McQuarrie has hinted that he may not be the only bad guy in the movie. Hunt will need all the support he can get from his friends in “Dead Reckoning Part One,” and that includes Eugene Kittridge’s (Henry Czerny) return.
