As per the local media, Lee Sun-Kyun might have committed suicide.

The Korean and World Entertainment industry is in shock by the untimely death of South Korean actor Lee Sun-Kyun. Lee Sun-Kyun was widely known all over the world for his role in the Korean movie “Parasite.” The movie went on to win the Oscars. As per the official sources, Lee Sun-Kyun’s dead body was recovered from a car. The car was parked at a park in central Seoul. His demise has sent shockwaves across the world as he was just 48 years old at the time of his death.

Lee Sun-Kyun was a suspect in an illegal drug consumption case. The local police have been looking for him as a missing report was filed by his members. He also left a note behind that indicated that he might have committed suicide.

However, nothing is confirmed yet and the police are looking into the matter. Once the autopsy is done, we might get a clear idea of how the Parasite actor died.

For quite some time Lee Sun-Kyun was being questioned by the police in matters related to the consumption of marijuana and other illegal drugs. During the media trials, Lee made it clear that he was not an addict and was just being blackmailed.

He said that never in his life he had consumed any form of illegal drugs. This was confirmed when he tested negative in both reagent and lab-based drug tests. But his public image had already taken a toll because of the unwanted controversy.

Lee Sun-Kyun had an outstanding acting career that received a major boost after his role as Park Dong-ik in “Parasite”. The movie was a massive hit among the masses and critics.

The movie was nominated in multiple categories at the Academy Awards. The movie won four Academy Awards. Not only that, the movie also won the prestigious Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival.

After Parasite, Lee continued to make an impact in the entertainment industry with his acting skills. Lee Sun-Kyun was the lead actor in “Dr. Brain“. It was the first South Korean series under Apple TV+.

For his role in the series, Lee was nominated for Best Actor at the 2022 International Emmy Awards. But things took an ugly turn as he was evicted from the series because of the ongoing drug investigation.

South Korea has very strict drug policies. In the recent time, there has been a huge surge in anti-drug campaigns across the nation. As a result, celebs and public figures are facing increased scrutiny related to drugs. At the start of 2023, the President of South Korea declared “war on drugs”. This resulted in over 17,000 arrests in the first eleven months of 2023.

We do not know now why Lee had to take such a fatal step of ending his life. But this could be because of the mental challenges he had to face during the police investigation and media trials. May his soul rest in peace.
