Little is known about the plot of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, the fourth film in the rebooted Planet of the Apes franchise. Fans are excited about the picture, though, because of a new production detail. Wes Ball, the film’s director, recently tweeted a video announcement of the film’s completion. However, the viewers’ attention was drawn to the slate in the video because it read “Forbidden Zone,” the title of the production.

Apes have established no-go zones where they will not venture because of the presence of humans. It’s possible that the apes will explore the ruins of human civilizations in the next film, given many of the franchise’s off-limits areas are actually human wastelands. This is fantastic news for fans since it may shed light on human stories hitherto untold in the franchise’s canon.

The apes’ transformation from simple monkeys to super-intelligent revolutionaries was the subject of the Planet of the Apes remake trilogy. Caesar was the central character throughout the trilogy, but he was killed off in the middle, allowing the last film to tell an entirely new story. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ working title, Forbidden Zone, suggests that it will diverge further from its predecessors than audiences expect.

Fans are excited about the return of the franchise and the chance of exploring new and fascinating locales, but it remains to be seen what will actually happen in the film. The inclusion of “forbidden zones” in the film’s working title suggests an interesting new path for the franchise.
