George Miller’s film “Mad Max: Fury Road” tops the list in a recent Rotten Tomatoes poll.

Rotten Tomatoes held a special poll last week on the occasion of its 25th anniversary. The review-aggregation website requested certified reviewers to select their top five films from the past 25 years. Surprisingly, George Miller’s “Mad Max: Fury Road” was chosen as the number one choice.

George Miller’s “Mad Max: Fury Road,” is a post-apocalyptic dystopian action film that revolves around Max portrayed by Tom Hardy, a survivor in the barrel world. He unwillingly joins forces with Furiosa played by Charlize Theron, a rebel warrior, on a mission to overthrow a tyrant who controls the region’s water supply.

Along with the top choice, “Mad Max: Fury Road,” the survey revealed the following four best films. Bong Joon-ho’s “Parasite” came in second, with David Lynch’s “Mulholland Drive” coming in third. “The Dark Knight” by Christopher Nolan stood in fourth place, and “Portrait of a Lady on Fire” by Céline Sciamma rounded Fifth.

“Fury Road” is still considered one of the best action movies and its 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes proves it. With the plans for a Fury Road’ sequel, the reunion of Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron is still a mystery. Fans may, however, look forward to a prequel focusing on a youthful Furiosa, with Anya Taylor-Joy as the fearsome wasteland warrior.
