Fans of Star Trek: The Next Generation and Voyager have a lot to be happy about after the series finale of Star Trek: Picard. In a touching scene, Seven of Nine became a full-fledged Starfleet officer and Beverly Crusher was elevated to the rank of Admiral. Captain Liam Shaw, impressed by her work, nominated her for a higher position, and she was eventually assigned command of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-G (formerly the Titan). The door is now open for a potential spinoff series in which Seven of Nine pilots her own Enterprise. Actress Jeri Ryan, who plays Seven of Nine, was quite pleased with the final product, especially her sequences with Tim Russ (Tuvok in the original series), who performed a similar role in Voyager. She thought Tuvok and Seven of Nine had a “lovely” rapport and liked the ending episode’s treatment of their interactions. To be in the legendary position on the legendary ship is a “cool” experience, Ryan stated when asked about her new duty as Captain of the Enterprise. Fans have been enthusiastic about the prospect of a spinoff series, but if this is the end for Seven of Nine, Ryan is content to let things be as they are. She thinks showrunner Terry Matalas has done a great job and has treated the property with care and respect. The finale was a fitting conclusion for the series, which fans had followed for years. After that wrap-up, Ryan doesn’t care what happens to Seven of Nine or the rest of the Star Trek cast.
