The Little Mermaid became the second-biggest Disney+ movie premiere ever by achieving this milestone.

Disney’s live-action adaptation of “The Little Mermaid starring Halle Bailey and Melissa McCarthy recently made its debut. In just its first five days of streaming, the movie garnered 16 million views on Disney.

“The Little Mermaid” secured its position as the second most-watched Disney+ movie premiere, with “Hocus Pocus 2” taking the top spot.

Upon its big-screen release, “The Little Mermaid” achieved an impressive earning of $118.6 million in North America, making it one of the top five highest-grossing films of the summer.

Additionally, its global box office earnings soared to a substantial $570 million. Critics and audiences gave it an outstanding “A” CinemaScore and an impressive 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

In Rob Marshall’s “The Little Mermaid,” the story revolves around Ariel, a youthful mermaid with a deep desire to explore the world beyond the sea.

Despite the strict rule that prohibits mermaids from interacting with humans, she falls in love with Prince Eric during a visit to the surface. Ariel makes a deal with the wicked sea witch, Ursula, to experience life on land, but this decision puts her life and her father’s kingdom at risk.

The Little Mermaid” live-action adaptation has had a remarkable impact on Disney’s existing library, notably boosting engagement with the animated versions of “The Little Mermaid” on Disney+ and it seems the movie’s success will grow even further.
