Since its inception in 2014, the John Wick film series has become a favorite among fans of action films. The series has consistently provided thrilling action and compelling plots, and Keanu Reeves’ performance as the title character has been outstanding. When it was revealed that a spinoff dubbed Ballerina was in the works, fans went wild. Ana de Armas was cast as the starring role of Rooney, a ballerina-assassin out for vengeance after the murder of her family.

Joe Drake, chair of Lionsgate’s motion picture division, spoke with Deadline recently and offered some details about the film’s impending release. A premiere date for Ballerina has not been announced, but the film is expected to hit theaters in the spring or summer of 2024. Norman Reedus, Gabriel Byrne, and Catalina Sandino Moreno join the previously announced return of Keanu Reeves, Anjelica Huston, and Ian McShane in addition to de Armas.

With her riveting turns in Blade Runner 2049 and Knives Out, Ana de Armas has been making headlines in Hollywood. Her foray into action films began with No Time to Die and continued with The Gray Man, and she has shown that she can handle complex parts. Ana recently spoke to Vanity Fair about her ambition to focus on character-driven parts, specifically mentioning her award-winning performance as Marilyn Monroe in the Netflix film Blonde.

The John Wick prequel series The Continental is currently under production. The show will go into the history of the famous hotel chain and its policies, which provide a safe haven for assassins. Viewers will likely gain insight into the history of these restrictions and the methods used to punish offenders. In September, Peacock will air the pilot episode of The Continental, and viewers will be eager to learn more about John Wick’s world.
